- "Can-Can" Kaleidoscope
Can-Can Kaleidoscope
Handmade in the United States by Bob Rioux, one of today’s premier kaleidoscope makers, this intriguing 10-inch “Can-Can” kaleidoscope has a two-mirror configuration incorporating a unique piece of red dichroic glass (a thin coating of metal over regular glass that allows viewers to see many more colors than the glass itself would allow). This “Can-Can” kaleidoscope, individually signed and numbered by the artist, is a remarkable conversation piece for any room or office, and has been known to relieve stress and promote relaxation.
The outer body of the “Can-Can” kaleidoscope is made from deep red iridescent glass adorned with shimmering gold glass rods, copper feet, and a dichroic glass jewel on top. The oil-filled glass cylinder, capped in brass, includes dichroic and hand-blown glass pieces, and tiny glass rods and beads. Gold dichroic glass surrounds the two-mirror image of the glass cylinder, resulting in infinitely changing, brilliant mandalas surrounded by iridescent golden tones, reminiscent of the bright, bold colors of the infamous Can-Can dance.
As an award-winning member of the exclusive Brewster Kaleidoscope Society, Bob Rioux and his Sea Parrot kaleidoscopes are known for their unique use of dichroic glass and natural themes. Bob takes great pride in creating original and collectible kaleidoscopes for the first time buyer as well as the experienced collector. His eye for detail and unusual choice of glass components make each and every one of his kaleidoscopes a genuine work of art.
