- "Merry Bachelors" Steck Figuren
- About Kellner Steckfiguren
Handmade in Germany by award-winning toymaker Hans-Georg Kellner, the Merry Bachelors have a knack for thinking outside the box and are not afraid to take chances – the results usually speak for themselves. As three (3) of the whimsical characters belonging to Kellner’s Stick Figure Family, they are sure to delight both the young and old at heart. The combination of cleverly designed, colorful geometric shapes, unique rubber “Jummis” – or connectors (that make a great “popping” sound when pulled apart) - and bits of felt and string put children of all ages in charge of this simple yet wonderfully creative building block system. Construct crazy stick figure designs to your heart’s content. And since there are deliberately no instructions included, you are limited only by your imagination.
Kellner Steckfiguren Toys, featured in Bilbao’s Guggenheim Museum, have entertained children and families alike in Europe for over eighty years. Each geometric building block, echoing the Merry Bachelor’s roots in the Bauhaus movement, is made from locally grown Beech wood that has each been colored with water-based paints. The patented “jummis” are made with food-grade rubber. The remaining embellishments are all made from natural materials including hemp, sisal and bits of felt. And each Steck Figure set comes packaged in its own wonderfully simplistic cardboard box. All Kellner Steckfiguren toys comply with European Safety Standards.
Kellner Steckfiguren Toys have won numerous awards around the world including “Spielgut” and “The Thuringer Design Prize” in 2001, the “German Design Prize for Toys” in 2001, the “RedDot Award” in 2002 and Japan’s “Good Design Award” in 2004.
