This French company began in 1972, when a group of friends decided to create a project that would provide them with work as well as a way of life. They decide to buy and repair an old mill where their families could live and they began production of craft items and screen-printing. As the years went on, Moulin Roty started creating children’s toys and it was their douillette, a soft doll made out of cloth that launched the popularity of the brand. In 1988 the mill suffered a devastating fire that destroyed the entire workshop including designs, files, and machines. Moulin Roty began from scratch after they moved to Nort sur Erdre with a determination to keep their company and products alive. Ten years later they launched  La Grande Famille line that continues to be one of their most popular and loved creations. Moulin Roty expanded oversees in the year 2000 and opened their first shop in Nantes one year before celebrating their 30th birthday in 2002. Today they are world renowned for their elegant and adorable collections of animals and dolls.
